Panagiotis, 30, Federica, 33 and Elektra 2, live in Rome and the house where they live is their property with a common garden at the Garbatella, they also live with their two dogs. Fede is an editor for Sky Italia and she has an open-ended contract, she works the shifts, in fact she sometimes starts working at 6 in the morning and sometimes at 12. Panagiotis is an artist so he can often work at home.The help of the grandparents, that is Federica's mum and dad, and of other relatives is also very important, Panagiotis' parents live in Greece.Elektra plays a lot, she likes playing with everything, from dolls to constructions, she likes reading books with animals and she loves imitating their sounds, she often goes to the parish youth club near her house where many activities are organized.

Stefano 39, Myriam 29, Ynua 9, Noa' 5 and Liu' almost 2 live with their dog Caraba' and their cat Pito Pito in Sampietri (Ragusa). The house where they live is their property and is has a garden and a little vineyard.Myriam is a full time mother and housewife, Stefano is an entrepreneur. The house is inside a natural Park called Pisciotto in the deep South of Sicily, the choice of living in such place depends on the will and need to grow and bring up their children in a healthy environment, without excessive noise and pollution which are typical of any kind of urban reality and especially without the typical style of hectic life of such cities, they also decided to move there before their children could establish their roots where they lived before (Catania). They have the help of two nannies. Ynua goes swimming, practises yu jitzu ( a martial art) and plays the piano, Noa' plays the piano and practises yu jitzu, they often play together in the garden, they love playing role games ( where they change identity and deal with that role throughout the game). Noa' loves disguising and often changes garment or costume, Ynua loves building huts with the material she can find around her and she also likes walking very much on the rocks. Liu' loves given back the objects she finds to their legitimate owners.

Maurizio 27, Eleonora 26 and Leone 1 live in a 75 square meter rented flat in Milan. Eleonora is a promotional account (a 6 hour part time job), Maurizio is in charge of the local adv commercial division for Matrix SpA. They have both been employed with an open-ended contract. They have the help of Maurizio's parents who live in the flat next to theirs and the help of a nanny. Leone has been going to the swimming pool since the age of three months and he will now be starting a music course; he plays with Lego, wooden cubes and constructions; he climbs everywhere, he plays with toy cars, he likes cleaning the house using a little broom and a little mop. He likes music and dancing but above all he likes improvising games by using those things that shouldn't be touched such as pots and pans, food, mum's necklaces, the battery recharges of the mobile phone or of the pc.

Alessio 34, Daniela 31 and Margherita only a few months old live with two cats in Montemurlo (Prato) in a 100 square meter flat they would like to buy by opening a loan. Daniela is attending a doctorate in methodology of science at the faculty of Political Science in Florence, she has also got some contracts working on projects with a company that collaborates with the Social Observatory of the town district in Prato, Alessio works as a social operator but does not have a regular job. Daniela's timetable depends on the lessons, whereas the job concerning the Social Observatory is managed independently. Alessio leaves home at 8.20 and gets back at 6 o'clock in the evening, at times he can also spend more time at home. They have the help of their parents and of some friends.

Michele 38, Patty 37 and Elia 3 live with three cats and a water turtle in Acqui Terme (Alessandria). The 95 square meter flat is their property and they are still paying a loan. Patty is a free lance, she teaches English and she mainly works at home by using the web cam. Michele is an employee (an executive manager) and works for a bank in Alessandria, he has an open-ended contract. They have the help of Michele's mother. Elia loves playing in the open air, especially with water, he likes spending time with other children and he has started going to nursery school only a few hours a day. At present Elia does not attend any kind of course, mum and dad believe that he is still too small, they think it is better to let him free to play by using his own imagination, he will have a lot of duties in the future.
